I’ll Take The Physical Challenge

30 May

Hi there, Lindsay again, today I want to share some ideas about goal setting. Many of us frequently make silent oaths to do better with our diet or perhaps public declarations that we “will make more time for the gym.” But I have found that a key to making these changes really stick is gaining the support of those around you. So without further adieu, I would like to unveil our family fitness challenge and hope to encourage some of you to make some healthy changes in your own lives.

This all began with a great idea from a very good friend. Faced with some serious health issues, my friend’s father needed some help and encouragement in order to find his way back to a healthy lifestyle. Each family-member decided to set a few of their own health goals and engaged in weekly email conversations to motivate, update each other on successes and share recipes and challenges. At the end of three months the family had some wonderful accomplishments from improved blood pressure scores, to weight loss and newfound passions for running and yoga.

I was so inspired that I rallied my own family and friends to set up a similar system. As a team, we have pledged to fulfill many different kinds of goals involving physical fitness, improved diets, cutting back on alcohol and getting more sleep. Best of all we are supporting each other the entire way. I am so proud of this group and if we can do it so can you. It’s not a matter of whether you can, but how badly you want it!

Try setting your own S.M.A.R.T goals and see how you do.
